Monthly ColumnThe Business World in 2030 and Our Future Workplace

In the year 2030, sustainability, talent needs, and digital transformation will be crucial to how we work and conduct business. Technology, data, and a strong focus on individual well-being have become central to a sustainable and profitable work environment.

The Impact of Sustainability Regulations in 2030

Over the last five years, sustainability reporting has tightened requirements to show responsibility not only for the environment but also for employees' health, development, equality, and inclusion. A healthy work environment, with a balance between work and private life, is now a given. Today’s employees expect transparency in the organization’s work and access to data that supports their career and personal development. Companies that have successfully built a culture where individuals have insight into and influence over their growth have strengthened their position in the competition for talent.

Digitalization & AI

Digitalization has fundamentally reshaped the work environment, with generative AI becoming an essential factor enabling new ways to analyze data and streamline workflows. Digital skills are now a must, an integral part of every employee’s toolkit. The skills gap has driven employers to invest in continuous learning so that every employee not only understands the technology but can also use it to drive innovation and evaluate its impact. Work roles have become flexible and dynamic—many jobs have been redefined and “de-composed” to match the right skills with the right tasks.

Talent

Despite technological advances, the fight for talent remains as intense as ever. Candidates continue to seek workplaces with strong values and an environment that supports both personal development and well-being. Flexibility, tailored roles, and a work culture that emphasizes transparency and ethical guidelines are essential to attracting and retaining top talent. Organizations that manage to offer these qualities have strengthened their productivity and engagement, which contributes to profitability.

A Work Life We Aspire To

By integrating sustainability for people, promoting digital competence, and creating strategies for flexible talent work, many companies have built workplaces where technology, transparency, and profitability align. In these environments, employees feel seen, engaged, and ready to contribute to the organization’s success in an ever-changing world.

A Utopia?
By 2030, we will have made great strides. Toward the goal.

The EU has a strong drive toward this work life, aided by various regulations. Tech, data, and AI will change our future forever, and it’s essential to stay in the driver’s seat. The expertise to make all these changes will still be in short supply. We will have shifted our view of talent supply to include everyone with the right skills.

😍 I look forward to 2030—do you?

Noted in the HR Tech Industry 💡

The entire "Work Tech" sector has experienced low or no growth in recent years due to the economic downturn, rising interest rates, and reduced customer investments. We’ve not only seen decreased profitability but also companies forced to close as surviving in such a tough market has become impossible—particularly in the area of Recruitment Tech.

Now, the forecast for 2025 looks positive, even though improvements are expected to be gradual.

In the area of Mergers & Acquisitions, Venero Capital Advisors observes this trend:

Talentech + Jobtip = Success!

Talentech has acquired the Swedish company Jobtip Group to strengthen its position in data-driven recruitment and advertising.

Jobtip Group specializes in recruitment marketing. With this acquisition, Talentech plans to combine its recruitment data and AI with Jobtip’s platform to offer new ways to reach the right candidates with greater precision. “Today, companies must think of recruitment as marketing if they want to reach the large portion of passive candidates. Recruitment marketing is a strategic and effective way to reach the right candidates where they are—and that is largely on social media,” says Ali Farshid, CEO of Jobtip Group.

Sweden Tops Innovation Index but Lags in AI Development

Sweden solidifies its position as a global innovation leader, ranking among the top three countries in the Global Innovation Index 2024 for the seventeenth consecutive year. With a second-place position after Switzerland and ahead of the U.S., Singapore, and the UK, Sweden continues to show strength in research, development, and technological progress.

However, recent reports reveal a more complex picture of Sweden's technological landscape. The Global AI Index 2024 ranks Sweden 17th globally in AI development, indicating a significant gap between the country’s overall innovative capability and its specific progress within AI.

This discrepancy can be attributed to several factors, including an insufficient national AI strategy, limited targeted investments, and challenges in translating AI innovations into practical applications. Reports indicate that to strengthen its position in AI, Sweden needs to develop a more ambitious AI strategy, increase investments in digital infrastructure, and focus on attracting and retaining top AI talent. The Swedes and AI 2024 report also highlights the growing but uneven use of AI tools among the Swedish population, underscoring the need for broader educational efforts and strategies to reduce digital divides in society.
